Motor Carriers (trucking industry) submit an application for an IFTA license using the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) Application (DR 7119). Carriers are required to register the truck before you are allowed to obtain the IFTA license. The DR 7119 must be submitted if there is also a trade name to register because there is a fee for the trade name.
Carriers renewing their IFTA license and decals have a two-month grace period (January and February) before they are required to display the IFTA license and decals for the current year. To operate in IFTA jurisdictions during the grace period, carriers must display either valid current or prior year IFTA license and decals from the jurisdiction in which they were registered or a valid single-trip permit from the IFTA jurisdiction in which they are operating.
