When taxpayers file a Colorado income tax return and they have a balance due on their return they should pay the amount at the time they file the return.  If no payment or partial payment is made at the time the return is filed, taxpayers will later receive a balance due notice in the mail. The "Amount You Owe" on your individual income tax return is your first balance due notice.
