Colorado Department of Revenue

Citizen's Advocate

  Pikes Peak

The Citizen's Advocate Corps was established in 1993 to increase state government's responsiveness to the concerns of the public. The Advocate Corps serves as a resource for citizens to address concerns and obtain information related to state government.

The Citizen's Advocate strives to remedy concerns by facilitating constituent interaction within the Department of Revenue.

The first step toward requesting assistance through the Advocacy Office is to determine whether your concern, problem or complaint is within the jurisdiction of the Department of Revenue. If your complaint is a local government, federal government or judicial issue, it cannot be resolved through the Department of Revenue Advocacy Office.

The Advocacy Office reviews each governmental concern and forwards the issue to the appropriate division within the Department of Revenue to determine whether the issue can be rectified through contact with the agency. Once the division has received the correspondence, the Advocacy Office follows up on the progress of each case. If you are dissatisfied with the conduct of the agency in resolving your complaint, further action may be necessary.

Your information is kept confidential and there is no charge for the mediation of the Advocacy Office.
