| Q |
How do I pay penalty and interest on wage withholding via EFT? |
| A |
EFT transactions for wage withholding tax do not allow for the payment of penalty and interest as part of the transaction. The penalty and interest should be paid with a check and an explanatory letter sent to the Department. Alternatively, the total of the tax, penalty and interest can be paid electronically and contact the Department by mail or phone and request the penalty and interest amounts be properly allocated. |
| Q |
Do I need to send the Department of Revenue a tax form when I have made an electronic payment? If so, when? |
| A |
A tax form is not required to be filed for payments of wage withholding tax, estimated income tax, estimated severance tax, income tax extensions, and PUC fixed utilities fees. These are paperless transactions. All other EFT transactions require a tax return. The tax return should be mailed in the same time frame as payments made by check.

The tax type codes for the taxes you are registered to pay will appear in a drop down menu when you initiate a payment on the Web. |

Can I make payments also using the Department's telephone system? |
| A |
Yes. A telephone payment can be made by calling this toll free number: 877-265-6338. You may switch between payment channels (telephone or Web). The payment channels are interchangeable because the same security information (for example a PIN) is used. Payments made using either channel can be changed or cancelled using either channel at any time before 4:00 PM Mountain Time on the day prior to the date the payment is deducted from your bank account. Only the Web option has the ability for you to review your electronic payment history. |
| Q |
Can I pay more than one tax in one Web payment session? |
| A |
No. At the conclusion of your first payment, select "Exit" on the Confirmation screen which will return you to the Department's home page. A second payment can then be initiated by clicking on "Online Services", logging in again, and entering the required information for the second payment.

| Q |
Does the EFT system allow scheduling payments for a future date (warehousing)? |
| A |

| Q |
Can I make any changes to a payment? |
| A |
Yes, if it is still pending, changes can be made prior to 4:00 p.m. Mountain Time the day before the payment effective date. You will need your confirmation number to make any change (such as, bank account used, payment date, amount, etc.) to a pending payment. Choose the edit payment option at the main menu. To change the tax type code you must cancel the payment and make a new one.

| Q |
What should I do if the EFT system says my EFT number (account) is locked? |
| A |
Please call the EFT Helpline at (303) 205-8333. An EFT number will be locked if you have problems logging on three times. This is a security feature to prevent unauthorized access. When you call the Helpline, the customer service representative will confirm your identity and reset the password (PIN) which will unlock your account. Once reset, the system will assign you a new temporary PIN which will be immediately e-mailed to you. You may then log back on. The temporary PIN will require you to change your PIN once you log on.
