Low Speed Electric Vehicles
Low Speed Electric Vehicle as defined in Colorado Revised Statute 42-1-102(48.6) is a vehicle that:
The definition of Motor Vehicle includes Low Speed Electric Vehicles. As a result all Low-Speed Electric Vehicles shall be titled and registered as Tax Class C vehicles. All ownership, titling and registration requirements and taxes and fees that apply to Tax Class C vehicles as detailed in Title 42 of the Colorado Revised Statute shall apply. Low Speed Electric Vehicles will be plated with the standard green and white passenger license plates and are required to display current year and month validating tabs.
It is a Class B Traffic Infraction to operate a Low Speed Electric Vehicle that does not conform with applicable federal manufacturing equipment standards. It is recommended that all Low Speed Electric Vehicle owners/operators read Senate Bill 09-075 to understand Low Speed Electric Vehicle operating and usage restrictions, equipment standards, safety standards and other useful information that may apply to Low Speed Electric Vehicles.
