Identity Theft
|
|
Not all fraud is identity theft, but all identity theft is fraud. Fraud may include the manufacture of counterfeit documents, the use of a false identity or variation of the perpetrator's name or date of birth, etc. for unlawful purposes, but it does not necessarily involve the use of another's actual identity. Colorado Revised Statute [C.R.S.] 18-5-902 defines identity theft as the unlawful use of personal identifying information, financial identifying information, or the financial device of another. |
