Driver's License Renewal Options

To renew a Colorado driver's license or instruction permit, you will need to present your old license or permit, pass a vision test, pay the required fee, be finger printed and photographed.  You will have to repeat the written or driving test if:

 

  • You apply for a different class of license or add an endorsement
  • The license or permit is canceled, revoked or denied
  • You receive traffic tickets which result in suspension
  • You let the license or permit expire for more than one year

If you require a written or driving test you must go into a driver's license office.

 

For a renewal without any testing you may renew an Adult Colorado Driver's license anytime prior to the expiration date. Minor licenses cannot be renewed before the 21st birthday.
