LAKEWOOD - Revenues at Colorado casinos contined to grow but at a slower rate in August, the second month of new games, limits and hours. Casinos statewide reported $69.6 million in adjusted gross proceeds (AGP) in August, up 2.1 percent from $68.2 million in August 2008, but down 8.5 percent from $76.1 million in July, when revenues topped the previous July by 16.0 percent.  AGP is most simply defined as the amount wagered by bettors less payouts from casinos.

Black Hawk's 18 casinos generated $49.6 million in AGP in August, up 3.9 percent from $47.7 million in August 2008 but down 8.9 percent from $54.4 million in July. Cripple Creek's 16 casinos totaled $13.9 million in AGP in August, down 1.9 percent from $15.0 million the previous August and down 7.5 percent from $14.2 million in July. Central City's six casinos produced $6.1 million in AGP in August, down 1.9 percent from $6.2 million in August 2008 and down 8.0 percent from $6.6 million the previous month.

Casinos statewide paid $6.4 million in gaming tax proceeds in August, up from $2.0 million in July, as casinos progressed through a graduated tax structure that started in July.
