Charles Murphy (Democrat) of Colorado Springs represents the registered elector on the commission and is from the 5th Congressional District for a term expiring July 1, 2016.
Commissioner Murphy is the founder and owner of Murphy Constructors of Colorado Springs, which specializes in restoration and renovation of 19th and early 20th century buildings, including many historic structures in the Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs area. In addition, he owns Gray Line Tours of Colorado Springs and Brookside Assisted Living.
Murphy is a long-time supporter of the arts and has actively supported the Fine Arts Center, Business of Arts Center, The Manitou Springs Arts Council, The Pioneer Museum, The Downtown TILE project, Smokebrush, Cottonwood Artists School, Art on the Streets, and Concrete Couch.
As an active member of the Colorado Springs community, he has also served on boards of Pikes Peak Hospice, Pikes Peak Mental Health, Silver Key, ComCor, The Pioneer Museum, Goodwill, Regis University Board of Regents, Downtown Improvement District, Julie Penrose Center, Pikes Peak Highway Advisory Board, Downtown Partnership, Colorado Springs Planning Department and Historic Preservation Alliance.
