Douglas Darr (Democrat)
Adams County Sheriff Douglas N. Darr of Thornton represents the law enforcement member on the commission from the 7th Congressional District for a term expiring July 1, 2013.
Commissioner Darr has served in various positions and capacities with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office over a span of more than 39 years, and was elected sheriff by the citizens of Adams County in November 2002. Career highlights include service as Director of the Adams County Emergency Management Operations and as SWAT team commander for more than 300 missions and serving the Adams County community as the elected Sheriff.
He was appointed to the Colorado DNA Task Force, Governor’s Immigration Task Force and Attorney General’s Medical Marijuana Task Force. Darr has served on a number of boards and associations, including Adams County Retirement Board of Directors, Adams County Interagency Planning Team, Adams/Jeffco Hazmat Authority Board, FBI National Academy Associate, Metro North Chamber of Commerce Leadership Advisory Board, Metro Gang Task Force and Colorado Crime Information Center.
Commissioner Darr is a certified law enforcement instructor in numerous subjects and a graduate of the FBI National Academy.
