Adding or Dropping a Franchise
Adding or Dropping of franchise(s) is governed by the following Laws & Regulations:
C.R.S. 12-6-116 (2) Notice of change of address or status
C.R.S. 12-6-518 (2) Notice of change of address or status
1. A corporate officer, LLC manager or partner must sign the notification letter.
2. The letter should be addressed to the Auto Industry Division.
3. The DBA on the franchise letter must be the same as the Dealer’s licensed name.
4. The letter must include:
If you are an existing franchise Dealer whom is adding a franchise: The letter must indicate that the franchise was granted in the licensed DBA name.
If you are not currently a franchised Dealer and you are adding a franchise: The letter must indicate that the franchise was granted in the licensed DBA name. Additionally, you must submit a DR 2658 – License Class Change Application.
If you are deleting a franchise: The letter must indicate the franchise being deleted. If only one (1) franchise is owned and it is now being deleted, the Dealer must also submit a DR 2658 – License Class Change Application.
