Comments from Leadership
These are interesting economical times and the Statewide Internet Portal Authority (SIPA) appreciates the challenges that are facing every facet of government. Below you will find some information about the SIPA organization and a request we are making of government leaders. On September 2, 2009 SIPA sent out a survey to Colorado's Clerks and Recorders. SIPA will continue to send this survey to Mayors, City Administrators and other State and local leaders to determine what potential exists for such entities to leverage their collective size and expertise.
The Statewide Internet Portal Authority (SIPA) was formed in 2004 by the Colorado Legislature and is a vehicle that Colorado governmental entities can use to aggregate demand. The current economy is teaching everyone the importance of leveraging our collective size, experience, differences, and similarities to ensure the citizens we serve receive the services they demand in the most cost effective manner. The Colorado.gov portal is a gateway to Colorado government, and it is intended to be Colorado's single most comprehensive delivery channel for eGovernment services by allowing citizens to easily navigate to the information they are seeking. The portal has several applications online and available today including the ability to file your state taxes, renew your driver's license or vehicle registration. In today's busy environment citizens are looking for more and more ways to interact with government via the internet as it allows them to conduct their business on their schedule rather then during normal business hours. This expectation will require us to think differently about how governments are making services available and interacting with citizens.
SIPA is conducting this survey to gather input on how it can better serve governments and citizens through developing eGovernment services to allow access to governmental services and information online. The applications above have shown us that there is a growing demand for these types of services and it is only through a better understanding of the needs and plans that we will be able to work together to develop applications that allow governments of any size and type to meet and exceed the demands being placed on them by the citizens..
If you are a leader within your government and want to take the survey please email: SIPAsurvey@www.colorado.gov.
