Weatherization Milestone Achieved

The Northwest Colorado Council of Governments Weatherization Program is pleased to announce that they are ringing in the New Year by celebrating a record number of households served! Tuesday, December 29, 2009, less than six months into the program year (which runs July through June) NWCCOG’s efforts surpassed the previous program year’s total of 200 homes served. This is an important milestone for a program with an ambitious goal of 450 homes served by June 30, 2010. NWCCOG is well on their way to more than doubling the previous year’s production thanks to a boost in funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Stimulus).

NWCCOG is part of a statewide effort managed by the Governor’s Energy Office that has earned Colorado recognition for its production on a national level. Through the first quarter of the grant year Colorado was ranked 3rd in homes served. NWCCOG serves low-income households within a 13 county, 24,000 square mile region that spans from Salida north to Wyoming and Idaho Springs west to Utah. Residents of these counties can qualify for energy saving upgrades including insulation, energy efficient furnaces and more. The goal of the program has always been to save energy, reduce utility bills and create comfortable homes for clients. The Stimulus has broadened the program’s impact by emphasizing job creation, technical training and support of local economies. NWCCOG would like to thank its partnering agencies, contractors and employees for achieving this objective.
