Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade

Honorary Investment Office in Switzerland

The Honorary Investment Office in Switzerland was established to help promote Colorado to Swiss companies that are looking to expand in the United States.  The Honorary Investment Office markets Colorado as a place for Swiss companies to do business and helps facilitate the process of establishing affiliate offices in Colorado.

Colorado's representative in Switzerland is Denise Brügger, who is an attorney with KPMG Legal and has many ties to Colorado.  Denise Brügger grew up in Chur, a city in the mountains of Switzerland. She studied law at the University of Zurich, from which she graduated in 1996. After passing the bar exam in 1999, she worked as an associate in a law firm and as a law clerk for a district court in the Canton of Grisons.  In 2002, she decided to widen her legal knowledge, moved to Colorado and enrolled in the University of Denver College of Law. In 2003, she received her LL.M. degree from the University of Denver College of Law. Afterwards, she worked as an international trade advisor in Denver at the OEDIT and as a part-time teaching assistant for European Union Law Courses at the University of Denver College of Law before returning home to Switzerland in 2005. She joined KPMG Legal in its Zurich office where she works as an attorney advising corporate clients and individuals in the areas of corporate and contract law.

Swiss companies are some of the larger foreign investors in the United States as well as Colorado. Colorado is home to many Swiss firms including Roche, Pilatus Aircraft, Holcim and Nestle.  Swiss companies in Colorado employ 1800 Coloradoans and own $1.1 billion in gross property, plant and equipment in the state.
