Mexico Trade Representative
Colorado has maintained representation in Mexico since 1994, providing a knowledgeable local market resource for Colorado companies. The representative is responsible for promoting Colorado products and services in the Mexican market and for encouraging Mexican investment in Colorado. The representative searches for and vets distributors, end-users, sales agents and other business partners for interested Colorado companies; recommends product, market and business strategies for Colorado firms interested in entering the Mexican market; arranges business appointments and provides logistical support to companies traveling to Mexico; and organizes trade and investment promotion programs, including trade missions.

HDC is a Mexico City-based consulting firm dedicated to providing quality, customized market intelligence services. HDC has extensive public and private sector experience in Mexico, and has a strong track record of assisting private companies in expanding their presence there. Luis's knowledge of the Mexican marketplace and U.S. business practices makes him a valuable resource for Colorado companies.
Mexico is Colorado's second leading export market at over $950 million in 2007 and there continues to be strong export potential. Recent Mexican administrations have opened the seaports, railroads, telecommunications, electricity generation, natural gas distribution, and airports to international competition. Trade with the U.S. and Canada has tripled since the implementation of NAFTA in 1994. Mexico has 12 free trade agreements with over 40 countries including, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, the European Free Trade Area, and Japan. Colorado exports to Mexico have grown substantially under NAFTA, and our state has maintained a trade surplus with Mexico over this period. Since NAFTA's inception in 1994, Colorado's sales to Mexico have grown at an average annual rate of 16% through 2006. With a trillion dollar free market economy, a population of over 107 million people, close proximity to Colorado, similar time zones, and a love for U.S. products and services, Mexico is often a top choice for Colorado exporters.
