About Affordable Housing
What is affordable housing and who lives in affordable housing? When we speak of affordable housing, there is sometimes a misconception that affordable housing is a multi-storied tenement in the middle of a large city, and sometimes it is.
However, in the Roaring Fork Valley affordable housing usually means a for- sale property that is targeted to those people whose annual household income falls between 80% and 150% of the Area Median Income (AMI). The properties are more than likely deed restricted with an appreciation cap to maintain affordability.
Eligible Participants in affordable housing must meet income and asset qualifications in order to purchase an affordable unit.
