Colorado Reads 2013 - The Early Literacy Initiative
During Colorado Literacy Week 2013 communities across the state demonstrated their shared belief in the transformative power of literacy. Parents, teachers, businesses, non-profits, and elected officials participated in book giveaways, library readings, school visits, and community conversations. Together we raised awareness about the importance of early literacy and celebrated the ongoing effort to equip students with the tools they need to thrive.
As we met with individuals from Sterling to Trinidad we encountered a common theme:
Whether its companies seeking employees to navigate an evolving marketplace, researchers in search of inquisitive minds to explore the cutting edge of science, or governments eager to discover the next generation of innovative leaders, everyone has a stake in helping Colorado’s children learn to read.
We hope that the events, conversations, and connections of Colorado Literacy Week 2013 will encourage you to stay involved in this effort. Together we can ensure that Colorado is a place where all children have the opportunity to succeed in school and in life.
Sincerely,
