Rx Review Program

The Rx Review program was created for Medicaid clients that obtain 5 or more medications for 3 consecutive months.  It is a program in which a client volunteers to participate and, by participating in the program, clients will learn more about their prescription medications, including how to avoid dangerous drug interactions.

After volunteering for the program, clients will receive a letter in the mail explaining the program and listing the name of the pharmacist that will be consulting with them.  A local pharmacist will meet with the client to discuss the medications the client is currently taking, including any medications or health products available over the counter or without a prescription.  As a result of the consultation, the pharmacist may have suggestions that would assist the client in improving the effectiveness of the medications the client is taking.  Following the consultation, a letter, including a summary of the session and any recommendations, will be sent to the client and the clients' health care provider.

A client may participate in a counseling session once each year.
