Effective Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment (EPSDT) program design and implementation requires continuing involvement of health professional organizations. Screening protocols and services, periodicity schedules, and service delivery timeliness standards must meet reasonable standards of medical and dental practice, determined by the agency after consultation with recognized medical and dental organizations involved in child health care.
Description
The Children's Services Steering Committee serves in an advisory capacity to the Department and makes recommendations regarding issues related to benefits for children and youth age 20 and under, provider education interventions and application of standards.
The Advisory Board consists of physicians, dentists, orthodontists, representatives from other state agencies, children's advocate organizations and EPSDT staff.
Meeting Schedule
Unless otherwise scheduled, meetings are held every other month on the fourth Friday, from 8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.

Statutory Authority
Section 1905 (r)(1)(A)(i) of the Social Security Act provides for services as determined by the State after consultation with recognized medical and dental organizations involved in child health care.
