Director Trujillo was appointed by Governor Bill Ritter, Jr. to lead the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security that that oversees approximately $100 million dollars to coordinate state, regional and local efforts to prepare Colorado's communities to be capable of preventing attacks and protecting against, responding to, and recovering from all hazards by developing, implementing, resourcing, exercising, and evaluating our State Homeland Security Strategy.

Formerly with Denver Fire Department as Fire Chief Administrator for one of the largest fire services in the nation, Trujillo has over 28 years of emergency management experience. Twenty-five of which were spent in various leadership roles providing emergency services at all levels.

Trujillo also served as Senior Advisor/Convention Safety and Transportation Planning during the 2006 Democratic National Convention.  Larry and his wife, Michelle, have two children.
