STATE OF COLORADO'S WEBSITE RECEIVES NATIONAL RECOGNITION
Gov. Bill Ritter praised the official website of the state of Colorado, Colorado.gov, for having been awarded fifth place nationally in the 2009 Best of the Web competition sponsored by the Center for Digital Government.
"We have worked hard to create the Colorado.gov website to ensure that citizens, businesses and governments can interact easily and efficiently with state and local government," said Gov. Ritter. "Receiving this award is a tremendous honor for the state of Colorado."
Many features in 2009 helped Colorado's website achieve national recognition, including:
- My Neighborhood -- Users can enter their city or zip code, and receive information regarding available service facilities in their neighborhood.
- eDemocracy -- Constituents are given easy access to the most relevant government information regarding the executive branch, state legislature, courts, elections, and local government.
- Child Care Facility Search -- Parents and community members can easily search for useful information on child care facilities.
- Mobile Services -- RSS feeds, Twitter, and Facebook updates are available to mobile users.
Colorado.gov is the official website of the state of Colorado and a collaborative effort between the Statewide Internet Portal Authority (SIPA) and Colorado Interactive, LLC to help Colorado government entities Web-enable their information services. SIPA is responsible for Colorado.gov. Colorado Interactive operates, maintains, and markets Colorado.gov and is part of eGovernment firm NIC's (NASDAQ: EGOV) family of companies.
