GOV. RITTER SENDS OFF LARGEST DEPLOYMENT OF COLORADO NATIONAL GUARD TROOPS SINCE WORLD WAR II
As commander-in-chief of the Colorado National Guard, Gov. Ritter took part in today's send-off ceremony for nearly 500 courageous citizen-soldiers of the 3rd Battalion, 157th Field Artillery. This is the largest Colorado National Guard deployment since World War II, and many of the troops are being deployed for their second, third or fourth tour of duty.
"On behalf of the people of Colorado, I cannot tell you how proud we are," Gov. Ritter told the troops and their families during the ceremony at the Pepsi Center. "We will incessantly pray for you and keep you in our hearts and our thoughts. While you are away, we will take care of your families, because they serve too, they serve in your absence.
"When you return, we will care for you. We will make sure you receive all the services you need.
"Go, go well, and go with God's speed."
