GOV. RITTER NAMES COLORADANS TO CENTER FOR IMPROVING VALUE IN HEALTH CARE COMMITTEE
Gov. Bill Ritter announced today that he has appointed 22 Coloradans to serve as voting and ex-officio members on the new Center for Improving Value in Health Care steering committee.
Gov. Ritter also said today that Dori Biester, former president and CEO of The Children's Hospital, will serve as interim director of the Center thanks to a grant from the Caring for Colorado Foundation.

Gov. Ritter established the Center for Improving Value in Health Care (CIVHC) upon the recommendation of the Colorado Blue Ribbon Commission for Health Care Reform. The multi-disciplinary steering committee will facilitate and implement strategies to improve quality and contain health care costs in Colorado.
The steering committee will set the strategic direction, vision and policy initiatives for CIVHC. It will advise the state on strategies to improve the health care service delivery system, leverage commitments from the public and private sectors, and integrate the work of other public and private entities in the state.
As interim director, Biester will be responsible for overseeing the Center, writing a business plan, engaging business and community leaders, and keeping the steering committee on track to meet its goals.
"Dori has been an invaluable leader in Colorado's health care community for many years," Gov. Ritter said. "We are fortunate to have her leadership as we move Colorado forward and continue to address the challenges of cost, quality and availability throughout our health care system."
