GOV. RITTER DECLARES MARCH AS AMERICAN RED CROSS MONTH
 

Gov. Ritter has proclaimed March as American Red Cross Month. This proclamation recognizes the humanitarian organization that brings together well-trained, dedicated volunteers and staff to help prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies and natural disasters.

 

"In Colorado, the Red Cross provides complementary essential services from food and shelter, to first aid training, to helping our sick and elderly, to connecting loved ones serving overseas," said Gov. Ritter.  "The American Red Cross is a cornerstone of our country and an example of the American people's willingness to provide a helping hand to those in need."   

 

Gov. Ritter and Lt. Gov. O'Brien will wear an American Red Cross pin in March to raise awareness of this organization and its accomplishments. During the month, the Red Cross has several events planned to recognize the volunteers and the services that are provided by the organization. AMERICAN RED CROSS MONTH
March 2009
 

WHEREAS, the American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization that brings together well-trained and dedicated volunteers with paid staff to help prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies; and

 

WHEREAS, in Colorado, the Red Cross has trained tens of thousands of citizens with skills in first aid, CPR, water safety, and other life-saving techniques; and

 

WHEREAS, Red Cross volunteers devote countless hours each year to transport needy individuals to medical appointments; and

 

WHEREAS, the Red Cross helps military families deliver messages to their loved ones serving our nation in foreign countries; and

 

WHEREAS, the Red Cross has been instrumental in assisting victims of disasters around the world, including fires, floods, earthquakes, wars, and hurricanes; and

 

WHEREAS, under the leadership of the Red Cross, thousands of volunteers stand ready to assist those displaced by disaster, wherever and whenever it may strike;

 

Therefore, I, Bill Ritter, Jr., Governor of the State of Colorado, do hereby proclaim March 2009 "AMERICAN RED CROSS MONTH" in the State of Colorado.
