GOV. RITTER RECEIVES ENERGY EFFICIENCY AWARD
Gov. Bill Ritter today received the "2008 Leadership in Energy Efficiency Award" from the Southwest Energy Efficiency Project (SWEEP) at SWEEP's Fifth Annual Southwest Regional Energy Efficiency Workshop.
"I am proud of the accomplishments we've made in energy efficiency by building Colorado's New Energy Economy," Gov. Ritter said. "I want to thank SWEEP and the many others involved in these efforts that bring much needed savings and good jobs to our state during this economic downturn."
In addition to Gov. Ritter, Tom Plant, director of the Governor's Energy Office, and state Rep. Claire Levy received awards for their strong commitment and achievements in energy efficiency. The awards are given annually to policy makers who demonstrate a strong commitment to advancing energy efficiency in the Southwest.
"SWEEP applauds Gov. Ritter for striving to make Colorado as energy-efficient as possible," said Howard Geller, SWEEP's executive director. "Consumer and businesses in Colorado will save billions of dollars if the energy efficiency goals in Gov. Ritter's Climate Plan are met."
