GOV. RITTER ORDERS LOWERING OF FLAGS ON OCTOBER 6, 2008
Gov. Bill Ritter today ordered that both the United States flag and the Colorado state flag be lowered on all public buildings throughout Colorado on Monday, October 6, 2008, in honor of former Colorado State Patrol Chief, Col. John Dempsey.
Col. Dempsey died on September 30, 2008 as a result of battling cancer the past couple of years. For more than 30 years, he served in the Colorado State Patrol where he ultimately became Chief in 1983. He held that position until his retirement in 1995. His funeral will take place at 10:30 AM on Monday, October 6, 2008 at the West Bowles Community Church. (C-470 and Bowles)
