DENVER — Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 — Chesapeake Bay crab cakes will be coming to Colorado after the Denver Broncos beat the Baltimore Ravens tomorrow.
“The Denver Broncos are the hottest team in football. We look forward to welcoming the Baltimore Ravens to the thin air in Denver and the raucous atmosphere at Sports Authority Field at Mile High,” Gov. John Hickenlooper said. “We can’t think of a better place than Colorado for Ray Lewis to play the last game of his remarkable career.”
Hickenlooper will receive one dozen Chesapeake Bay crab cakes from Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley after the Broncos win. Should the unexpected happen and the Ravens win, Hickenlooper will send one dozen Colorado lamb chops to Maryland.
“The AFC North Division Champion Baltimore Ravens have been to the playoffs for five straight years, and continue to prove that they are one of the best teams in football,” O’Malley said. “We look forward to the game Saturday, and wish the Ravens well as they march through Denver all the way to the Super Bowl - and we can’t wait to enjoy those Colorado lamb chops.”
Also today, Hickenlooper ordered Denver Broncos flags be flown at the state Capitol to join in the “United in Orange” campaign in support of the team.
The Denver Broncos will host a “United in Orange” Pep Rally from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. The rally will be held on the Sports Legends Mall on the south side of the stadium and is free and open to the public.
