Gov. Hickenlooper announces Boards and Commissions Appointments

DENVER — Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012 — Gov. John Hickenlooper announced several Boards and Commissions appointments today. The appointments were to the Advising Committee on the Licensing of Child Care Facilities; the Chemical Demilitarization Citizens Advisory Commission; the Coal Mine Board of Examiners; the Colorado Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice; the Council of Advisors on Consumer Credit; the Justice Assistance Grant Program; the Southern Ute Indian Tribe/State of Colorado Environmental Control Commission; and the State Methamphetamine Task Force.

The Advising Committee on the Licensing of Child Care Facilities counsels the Department of Human Services on the licensing of child care facilities such as day care centers, family care homes, residential child care facilities and camps. The member appointed for a term expiring July 1, 2015:

Jane F. Miyahara of Denver, a representative of a state agency with an interest in and concern for children.

The Chemical Demilitarization Citizens Advisory Commission provides citizen input and expresses state concerns regarding the U.S. Army program for the disposal of chemical warfare agents and munitions at the Pueblo Army Depot.The members appointed by and with terms expiring at the pleasure of the governor:

Kenneth Dean Griffin of Pueblo, and to serve as a representative of the local affected area of the Pueblo Depot Activity.
Aaron Michael Serna of Denver, to serve as a representative of the Governor’s Office.

The Coal Mine Board of Examiners prepares and conducts examinations for all applicants to positions in coal mines that require certification under federal law. The Board issues certificates of competency to those who qualify and provides assistance in developing curricula for coal miner training programs. The appointments must be confirmed by the Colorado Senate. The members appointed for terms expiring July 1, 2016:

Richard Clair Chermak of Hotchkiss, to serve as a coal miner of known experience and practice in underground coal mining residing in Colorado and actively engaged in the coal mining industry during the term of office, reappointed.
Justin Kenneth Evans of Crawford, to serve as a Colorado mine owner, operator, manager or other mine official actively engaged in the underground coal mining industry during the term of office.

The Colorado Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice engages in an evidence-based analysis of the criminal justice system in Colorado and annually reports to the governor, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the President of the Senate, and the Chief Justice of the Colorado Supreme Court. The member appointed for a term expiring June 30, 2013:

David Gene Donaldson of Merino, to serve as a county commissioner, and occasioned by the resignation of Debra L. Zwirn of Iliff.

The Council of Advisors on Consumer Credit advises and consults with the assistant attorney general concerning the Attorney General’s powers under the consumer credit code.The member appointed for a term expiring Sept. 30, 2015:

Robert Charles Dix of Denver, to serve as a representative of the consumer credit industry, and occasioned by the resignation of Kathyrn M. Powell of Denver.

The Justice Assistance Grant Program advises the Division of Criminal Justice on issues related to federal block grant monies designated to improve the criminal justice system, reduce drug abuse and violent crimes. The member appointed for a term expiring July 31, 2015:

Jagruti Rai Shad of Broomfield, and occasioned by the resignation of Charles Smith of Greenwood Village.

The Southern Ute Indian Tribe/State of Colorado Environmental Control Commission adopts air quality standards and rules pertaining to the reservation air program. The member appointed for a term expiring July 1, 2015:

Peter Butler of Durango, to serve as a resident of La Plata County.

The State Methamphetamine Task Force examines the prevention, intervention and treatment of the abuse of methamphetamines. The task force also examines the production, distribution and laws concerning methamphetamines. The member appointed for a term expiring July 1, 2014:

Kelly E. Perez of Denver, a representative of the Governor’s policy staff, boccasioned by the resignation of Karla Maraccini of Denver.
