DENVER — Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012 — Gov. John Hickenlooper has appointed Patrick Murphy to serve as a district court judge in the 11th Judicial District, which includes Chaffee, Custer, Fremont and Park counties. Murphy will fill a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Julie G. Marshall.
Murphy currently serves as the head of the Colorado State Public Defender office in Salida. He has worked as a Public Defender in the 11th Judicial District for 17 years.
Murphy earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a J.D. from the University of Colorado College of Law.
The appointment is effective Jan. 8, 2013.
