DENVER — Friday, July 6, 2012 — Gov. John Hickenlooper today sent a letter to U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack to request that Weld County receive a Secretarial natural disaster designation for losses caused by hail, high winds and flash flooding beginning and ending on June 7, 2012.
“The most severe crop damages are attributable to hail and high wind,” the letter said. “The most severe damage was along Highway 85 from 5 miles north of Nunn, CO to the north side of Greeley, CO.”
The declaration, if approved, would allow producers to qualify for USDA assistance.
