Gov. Hickenlooper signs proclamation celebrating CSU and CU dancing in the NCAA Tournament

DENVER — Wednesday, March 14, 2012 — Gov. John Hickenlooper signed a proclamation today that declares Thursday, March 15, as “CSU and CU are Dancing Day.”

“March Madness is alive in Colorado,” Hickenlooper said. “We are proud to see both CSU and CU playing in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2003. These student-athletes have worked hard to represent their schools on a national stage. Our wish is for Cinderella magic to sprinkle over both teams.”

Schools flags from Colorado State University and the University of Colorado will fly at the state Capitol as long as each team is in the tournament. Also, the governor urges Ram fans and Buffalo fans of all ages to wear school colors on each day their team plays.

Here is the text of the proclamation signed by Hickenlooper:

WHEREAS, Colorado State University and the University of Colorado are both playing in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2003; and

WHEREAS, the Rams’ first opponent is Murray State in the West Regional in Louisville, Kentucky; and

WHEREAS, the Buffaloes’ first opponent is the University of Nevada – Las Vegas in the South Regional in Albuquerque, New Mexico; and

WHEREAS, both Colorado schools are Number 11 seeds in the tournament and need a little Cinderella magic; and

WHEREAS, CSU and CU fans of all ages should wear school colors on the days their team play; and

WHEREAS, school flags will fly at the State Capitol each day for as long as each team is in the tournament; and

WHEREAS, the entire state of Colorado is proud to see student-athletes from CSU and CU compete on a national stage;

Therefore, I, John W. Hickenlooper, Governor of the State of Colorado, do hereby proclaim March 15, 2012,
