Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011 -- Gov. John Hickenlooper today ordered flags be lowered to half-staff on all state and federal buildings on Thursday, Feb. 10 in honor of Army Specialist Joshua R. Campbell, 22, of Bennett.
Specialist Campbell died on Jan. 29 in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. According to initial reports, he died of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle. Specialist Campbell was assigned to the 264th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion of the 82nd Sustainment Brigade, Fort Bragg, NC.
Specialist Campbell’s parents live in Bennett and Brighton. Private services are scheduled for Thursday in Aurora.
