CHASE! Program
Champion Health And Safety Everyday!
In 2007, the State Office of Risk Management and its Third Party Administrator partnered a pilot safety program called "It's A New Day" with the five largest state agencies in an effort to reduce employees' physical, financial, and emotional hardships, as well as claim costs. Today, the program is known as the CHASE! Program, Champion Health And Safety Everyday!, and encompasses statewide safety and loss control efforts.
The purpose of the program is to implement an effective program that builds a statewide culture of safety and health through a collaborative effort between the State Office of Risk Management, state agencies and institutions of higher education, advocates for a healthy, injury-free workplace for all employees, and demonstrates a model of safe work practices.
The program has been successful. The trending of the program shows that in the first year, the claim frequency increased while the severity, or cost of the claim decreased. In the second year, the frequency decreased and the severity continued to decrease as well. In the first two years of the program, nearly $4,000,000 was saved, and workers' compensation claim frequency and severity have decreased over 30% in one agency.
We strive to protect our employees. Here it makes sense to CHASE!
CHASE! Mission Statement:
"To create and champion a safe and healthy work culture."
