The Department of Revenue (DOR) Succession Planning Program Pilot

"The Department of Revenue is very excited to participate in a pilot succession planning program with the Department of Personnel and Administration, Division of Human Resources, Workforce Development Unit. As the Human Resources Director I realized a succession plan was essential when I read the DPA  Annual Workforce Report . The report indicated our agency has over one third of the employee population who are eligible to retire in five years or less. We are in the beginning stages of developing a plan which focuses not on specific people but rather critical positions and essential functions. One of the benefits of developing a succession plan will be the additional opportunity for employee career development paths as cross training of essential functions will be part of the plan. In the current economy we consider this option to be one more no cost way we can encourage employees to continue to grow in their state government careers.
