Key Information for Open Enrollment and the 2013-14 Plan Year.

As of July 1, 2013 the following services are added to our plan under the Affordable Care Act,

  • Women's Preventive Health Care - such as mammograms, screenings for cervical cancer, prenatal care, and other services - are covered with no cost sharing for new health plans.  However, the law recognizes, and HHS, understands the need to take into account the unique health needs of women throughout their lifespan.  Here is a list of newly added preventive services for women.

         1.  Well-woman visits

         2.  Screening for gestational diabetes

         3.  Human papillomavirus testing

         4.  Counseling for sexually transmitted infections

         5.  Counseling and screening for human-immune deficiency virus

         6.  Contraceptive methods and counseling

         7.  Breastfeeding support, supplies and counseling

         8.  Screening and counseling for interpersonal and domestic violence

  •  Vision Services.  As of July 1, 2013 we have added a vision hardware benefit to our medical plans.  This is not a separate vision plan.  If you sign up for one of the State's medical options, you will automatically receive the additional vision benefits.
  • If your insurance is with United HealthCare you will need to ensure that your choice of vision services provider is covered under the United HealthCare medical plan.  Employees can confirm your provider is contracted by checking on the UHC website under United HealthCare Choice.  You will need to get your eye exam through the medical plan using a medical plan provider as you have done in the past, and then utilize a vision plan provider to obtain your hardware and materials (glasses and contacts).
  • All Kaiser participants must utilize their vision benefits at a Kaiser approved location.
