Digital Printing (Copy Services)
You can save time and improve quality by submitting your artwork electronically for Digital Printing (formerly Quick Copy). Digital printing typically refers to any type of print reproduction method that utilizes electronic files to produce a printed piece from liquid and dry ink or toner.
Your documents, converted to PDF format using Adobe Acrobat or similar software, can be sent with the Request Form by e-mail directly to IDS at IDS.customerservice@state.co.us and printed with higher quality in much less time than traditional glass-scanned copies. You may also FTP your files to our server. Call or e-mail us for set-up information and tips about document preparation. Electronic printing means that each copy produced is a first-generation original equal to or better than what the customer would have sent to us as artwork. This method is also more convenient since there is no need to make artwork and bring originals to us or wait for a mail courier to pick them up from your location.
IDS Digital Printing is the fastest, most convenient, and economical method of duplicating between 500 or more printed copies of your black or color documents. The cost is very competitive with the private sector, and has demonstrated a savings of 50% or more in many instances. For information on current pricing, click here.
Variable Data Printing
In 2011, IDS moved further in the direction of working with Variable Data Printing (VDP). Variable data is a form of digital printing, including on-demand printing, in which elements such as text, graphics, and images may be changed from one printed piece to the next without hindering the printing process, and using information from a database or external file. For example, a set of personalized letters, each with the same basic layout, can be printed with a different name and address on each letter.
This process has increased efficiency, volumes, and reduced costs. With the business model Print to Post, data files are prepared, than sent to the digital printers. Once printed, they are moved to the mail inserters and sorter, and then dispatched to the General Mail Facility.
Some examples of current IDS Variable Data projects:
- City and County of Denver Assessors (Property Tax Appraisals)
- Colorado Division of Parks and Wildlife registration cards
(renewal cards to all snowmobile, boat and ohv owners)
- Secretary of State Business Licenses (letters to all business’)
- Department of Education (all teacher licenses)
- Secretary of State Elections Division (mailings required for the counties)
Offset Printing
IDS Offset Printing can help you produce forms, letterheads, envelopes, brochures, reports, newsletters, catalogs, books, and flyers, in as many as three colors of ink that will appeal to your reader and get results. We offer quality printing, including bindery services, at an economical price.
Like the overwhelming majority of commercial printers, the IDS uses the offset lithographic method of printing. Offset is excellent for reproducing type, illustrations, and photographs economically, effectively, and is a process for which unit cost decreases as quantity increases.
