ABOUT OUR OFFICE

This office is responsible for discovering, locating, listing, classifying, and valuing properties as directed by state laws.  It is the responsibility of this office to update and maintain accurate property records.  These records include improvements and all improvement characteristics; along with pictures of these improvements.  Records also include land size, location, maps, and transfer history. The Assessor's goal is equalization of property values which will make certain that all property owners share fairly and equitably in the tax burden.

The work of the office is audited annually by an independent auditor contracted by the State Legislative Council and must meet criteria established by the State Board of Equalization.
