Coaching and Assistance

The Local Assistance Unit offers free technical assistance and training to public water systems throughout Colorado. Our staff includes coaches with operator certification in water treatment and distribution systems. Our coaches are available to answer your tough questions by phone or through conveniently scheduled site visits.

 

We offer three primary services:

 

Our coaches provide free training and technical assistance in all areas of water system operations. We specialize in

 

  • Ensuring adequate disinfection
  • Supporting the development of required monitoring plans
  • Coaching select systems in need of in-depth capacity-building support

Our team provides regulatory guidance, including guidance documents, fact sheets, checklists, and software programs that can be specifically applied to your system.

 

We can help you prepare or enhance:

 

  • Troubleshooting and process optimization
  • Bacteriological sampling plans
  • Monitoring plans
  • Asset management & financial plans
  • Consumer confidence reports
  • Emergency response plans
  • Recordkeeping

 

We also offer free CDs and DVDs with associated training units.

The local assistance unit uses federal funding from the EPA to support technical workshops and trainings through our partner organizations and associations in Colorado. We can help you identify the right training opportunities for your system managers, board members, operators, and support staff.
