Community Health Assessment Data for the Safety Net
This data is aggregated from multiple sources by the Health Statistics Section and the Primary Care Office. The purpose of the data is primarily to support applications for New Access Points for Federally Qualified Health Centers. This data may also be helpful in community level planning around primary care access needs. Unless otherwise noted in community profiles, data was prepared by the Health Statistics Section at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. When data is unavailable for the county (less than 50 individuals responded), data for the corresponding Health Statistics Region has been included. It is noted as "HSR" in the reports. This data was last refreshed in November of 2011. Updates to these data will happen on an annual basis.
Health Statistics Region Profiles
There are 21 Health Statistics Regions in Colorado. They are aggregations of counties developed by the Health Statistics Section of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment in partnership with state and local public health professionals. The regions were developed using statistical and demographic criteria.
Colorado State Health Workforce Development Strategy
The goal of the Colorado State Health Workforce Development Strategy is to improve the health status of all Coloradans by developing the health workforce, emphasizing the primary care access needs of vulnerable, low income and geographically isolated communities. Colorado's Health Workforce Development strategy was affirmed by the members of the Colorado Health Care Professions Workforce Policy Collaborative in September of 2011 with a subsequent revision completed in the summer of 2012. Through consultation with many of Colorado's innovative thought leaders in the health workforce community, key recommendations emerged. The Colorado Health Workforce Development Strategy groups these recommendations under four heading Organize, Educate, Retain and Advocate.
