Overview
- Colorectal Cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. Colorectal cancer can develop when cells that are not normal grow in your colon or rectum. These growths are commonly called polyps.
- The risk of developing colorectal cancer increases with age
- More than 90% of cases occur in those ages 50 or older
- If everyone age 50 or older received regular screenings, 60% of colorectal cancer deaths could be avoided
