Four Corners Air Quality Group to update public at meeting in Durango
Ground-level ozone, smoke from wildfires highlight the agenda
 
Durango, CO – The Four Corners Air Quality Group will meet next week to provide updates on air quality issues facing the region. The meeting is set for 1 p.m., Monday, Sept. 9, at the Durango Public Library, 1900 E. Third Ave. The meeting is open to the public.
Monday afternoon’s presentations will be highlighted by an Ozone Status Panel featuring federal and state air quality representatives. The agenda also includes information about the potential health impacts of smoke from wildfires and other air quality-related events.
Activity will shift to the San Juan Public Lands Center, 15 Burnett Court on Monday evening, for a 90-minute open house, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Representatives from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment; the New Mexico Environment Department; the Southern Ute Indian Tribe; the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; and federal land managers including the Bureau of Land Management, the National Park Service and the U.S. Forest Service will be on-hand to provide information and answer questions.
The meeting will continue Tuesday morning with more technically-oriented updates on regional haze and new federal rules that apply to oil and gas exploration and production.
