Community Conversations

The Office of Health Disparities works with community partners under the U.S. Office of Minority Health, Federal State Partnership grant. The purpose of this work is to enhance partnerships with the community to devise strategies to eliminate health disparities and improve health access. The discussions and activities help increase partnerships and ensure communities maintain resources and support.

OHD encourages innovation in community dialogue that includes the following areas:

• Increase awareness of health disparities: partnerships, health care agenda

• Strengthen and broaden leadership: capacity-building, funding and research priorities

• Improve health system and life experience: access to care and communication, at-risk children, older adults

• Improve cultural and linguistic competency: workforce training, standards, diversity, language assistance, limited English proficiency

• Improve data availability and coordination and use of research and outcomes: community-based research, health data research
