The Radiation Program is proposing changes to the Colorado Rules and Regulations Pertaining to Radiation Control, 6 CCR 1007-1, Part 2 - Registration of Radiation Machines, Facilities and Services.
The proposed changes are primarily intended to clarify and provide further detail in the requirements and to correct and align the processes for registration described in the regulatory part with the current practices of the Radiation Program.
Stakeholders were notified, and Part 2 was posted for a public comment period in March-April 2014. Several comments were received during the comment period. As a result of the comments submitted, selected modifications of the proposed rule have been incorporated into the most recent draft. Other comments were determined to be beyond the scope of the current rulemaking and will be deferred to a future date to provide the Raidation Program additional time to evaluate the issues and identify and involve additional stakeholders.
A request for rulemaking for Part 2 was held on April 16, 2014 before the Colorado Board of Health (the board). The board approved the request for rulemaking, and a final rulemaking hearing will be held at the board meeting scheduled for June 18, 2014.
