The goal of the stakeholder process is to develop guidance that provides clarity and examples of approved design elements for waste impoundments; assists in compliance with the Solid Waste Regulations by providing direction and structure for consultants, contractors, local governments, citizens, owners, and operators who are involved in the permitting, design , operation, monitoring and closure of a waste impoundment; and ensures protection of the public health and the environment. The stakeholder meetings are intended to get feedback from stakeholders on the proposed guidance.
