Composting

Section 14 of the Regulations Pertaining to Solid Waste Sites and Facilities defines specific design, operating, monitoring, closure and post closure criteria for many composting activities.  These regulations do not apply to backyard, agricultural or biosolids composting.

A hearing on revised Section 14 - Composting was held on November 18, 2008 before the Colorado Solid and Hazardous Waste Commission.  The proposed regulations were adopted and became effective on December 30, 2008.
