Asbestos Waste and Asbestos-Contaminated Soil

Section 5 of the Regulations Pertaining to Solid Waste Sites and Facilities defines proper disposal methods and reporting procedures for asbesos waste and asbestos contaminated soil. 

 

The Hazardous Materials and Waste Management Division, in consultation with stakeholders, is currently revising Section 5.5, Management of Asbestos-Contaminated Soil.  Stakeholder meeting information is below.

 

The Air Pollution Control Division also regulates asbestos and asbestos-containing materials - including inspection, renovation, remodeling and demolition.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, after consultation with the City and County of Denver (CCOD), is conducting a stakeholder process to re-evaluate Section 5.5 of the Regulations Pertaining to Solid Waste Sites and Facilities that concern asbestos-contaminated soil management. The goal of the stakeholder process is to formulate revised regulations to present to the Solid and Hazardous Waste Commission for rulemaking in 2013. The stakeholder meetings are intended to get feedback from stakeholders on proposed changes.
