Health Care Coalitions

Health Care Coalitions are defined as a group of multiple members of the ESF 8 and emergency response community that come together to form a collaborative preparedness planning group that provides integration, coordination and organization for the purpose of regional healthcare preparedness activities and response coordination. You can learn more from the ASPR report,From Hospitals to Healthcare Coalitions: Transforming Health Preparedness & Response in Our Communities.

The development and integration of Health Care Coalitions into state and local public health and medical preparedness and response is a key requirement in the new (2012-2017) five-year Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP) and Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) Cooperative Agreements. This grant is provided to local partners such as local public health agencies, hospitals, long term care facilities and nursing services as well as many other local entities throughout Colorado.
