Committees and Task Forces
The committees and task forces for the Emergency Medical and Trauma Services (EMTS) Section are set up to promote council governance, review provider grants, develop and advise the department on standards, policies, processes, procedures and rules for EMTS systems and providers in Colorado.

The Designation Review Committee (DRC) reviews the results of site reviews at Level III-IV trauma centers. Each of the nine members of this committee are specifically appointed to represent the perspective of the EMS/Pre-hospital community. The nine members are appointed by the department upon the recommendation of the State Emergency Medical and Trauma Services Advisory Committee (SEMTAC) to serve for three years. The Statewide Trauma System Committee (STAC) is a joint standing advisory committee to both the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) and the State Emergency Medical and Trauma Services Advisory Council (SEMTAC). This committee is responsible for advising both the SEMTAC and CDPHE on matters pertaining to the continued development of the trauma system in Colorado. The STAC consists of 11 members; six are members of and appointed by the SEMTAC and five members appointed by CDPHE.

The Injury Community Prevention Group (ICPG) coordinates the State Emergency Medical and Trauma Services Advisory Council's (SEMTAC) involvement in injury prevention initiatives by collaborating with Regional Emergency Medical and Trauma Advisory Councils (RETACs), Emergency Medical and Trauma Services (EMTS) providers, facilities, non-profit associations, public health organizations and others.

The Public Policy and Finance Committee (PPFC) makes recommendations regarding public policy and legislation at the local, county, and state levels and provides resources to support the State Emergency Medical and Trauma Services Advisory Council's (SEMTAC) mission.

On July 27, 2012, a stakeholder forum developed a recommendation for the Emergency Medical and Trauma Services (EMTS) Section, in conjunction with the Home Health Agencies Program, to convene a task force to discuss and develop a framework for EMS-Based Community Care Services, also known as Community Paramedicine or Community Paramedics.

The EMS Safety Task Force is on ongoing work group created by the SEMTAC in 2007 to improve safety practices within the Colorado EMS community. Efforts are targeted toward provider and patient safety issues with an ongoing focus on safe operation of ambulances. The group has also been responsible for program planning of the Colorado EMS Safety Summit and monitors national EMS safety initiatives on behalf of the State of Colorado.
