Providers of emergency medical and trauma care must be able to communicate with each other to maximize their efforts. Communications in the Emergency Medical and Trauma Services (EMTS) systems include: access to the system through 911 services, pre-arrival instructions to callers, dispatch of prehospital services, communications with physicians for online medical control and notification of patients being transported to facilities.
