In Colorado, group outbreaks from any source are reportable conditions, even if the diagnosis is not yet known. Health Care professionals who suspect an outbreak due to viral gastroenteritis, whether it is suspected to be foodborne or occurring in a group setting such as a long term care facility or child care center should contact their local public health agency to report the outbreak within 24 hours. Alternately, health care professionals can report suspected outbreaks in Colorado to the state health department by calling 303-692-2700 (after hours: 303-370-9395).
